Directed and co-written by Will Gluck, the film successfully brings the cheeky, adventure-loving spirit of Peter Rabbit (voiced by James Corden) to life. When the old farmer suffers a dramatic heart attack, the rabbits briefly believe they have inherited the land and throw a wild celebration. However, their paradise is quickly shattered by the arrival of the farmer’s meticulous, uptight great-nephew, Thomas McGregor (Domhnall Gleeson), a former Harrods toy department manager who inherits the property.
Thomas shares the same deep-seated hatred for “vermin” as his great-uncle, and a brutal, chaotic turf war quickly escalates between the humans and the animals. Adding to the chaos is their kind neighbor, Bea (Rose Byrne)—an artist and animal lover who is fond of the rabbits—whose affections become the ultimate prize in the battle between the rebellious Peter and the obsessive Thomas.
