​The film expertly builds a suffocating atmosphere of dread around two primary settings: the isolated bedroom and the watchful eyes outside it. The story focuses on Layla (Manang Medina), a beautiful young woman, and Popoy (Itan Rosales), the grandson of her landlady, Manay Flor (Ruby Ruiz). They begin a passionate, intimate romance in their secluded room in Manay Flor’s old, creaking house.

​The innocence of their passion is shattered by the reveal that they are being watched. Manay Flor, a deeply religious and mentally disturbed woman, has drilled small holes into the walls and floorboards, transforming herself into a silent, obsessive voyeur. She listens to the “restrained groans and squeals” and watches every movement, fueled by a mixture of religious fervor and twisted psychological fixation.

​The film is praised for its tense atmosphere and, particularly, for the masterful performance of Ruby Ruiz as Manay Flor. Her portrayal of a seemingly prayerful fanatic who transforms into a “wrathful madonna” of psychotic observation dominates the movie.
