​Directed by James Gunn, this space opera introduces a brand new, wildly charismatic, and distinctly dysfunctional team of intergalactic heroes. The story kicks off with Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), an Earth boy abducted in 1988 and raised by the Ravagers, who now operates as the self-proclaimed Star-Lord.

​While scavenging on an abandoned planet, Quill steals a mysterious orb, which immediately puts him in the crosshairs of the powerful and fanatical Kree villain, Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace). Ronan seeks the orb for its devastating power, which is later revealed to contain one of the six Infinity Stones.

​Quill soon finds himself reluctantly teamed up with a quartet of fellow outlaws, captured after a chaotic clash:

• ​Gamora (Zoe Saldana), a deadly assassin and adopted daughter of the mad titan Thanos.
• ​Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), a massive, literal-minded warrior driven by vengeance against Ronan.
• ​Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper), a genetically engineered, wise-cracking raccoon bounty hunter.
• ​Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel), a powerful, tree-like humanoid and Rocket’s loyal companion.

​After escaping from prison, this band of misfits must learn to put aside their differences and their selfish motivations to protect the orb from Ronan. The fate of the entire galaxy, starting with the planet Xandar, depends on whether these five selfish rogues can truly become a team and prove they are worthy of the name Guardians of the Galaxy.
