​The sequel takes place in 1982, four years after 13-year-old Finney “Finn” Blake (Mason Thames), now 17, killed The Grabber and escaped, a trauma that still haunts him with rage and paranoia. The narrative focus shifts largely to his headstrong 15-year-old sister, Gwen (Madeleine McGraw), whose psychic abilities have grown stronger.

​The horror reignites when Gwen begins receiving terrifying calls from the black phone in her dreams, accompanied by disturbing visions of three boys being stalked and murdered at a remote location known as Alpine Lake.
