​The sequel takes place in 1982, four years after 13-year-old Finney “Finn” Blake (Mason Thames), now 17, killed The Grabber and escaped, a trauma that still haunts him with rage and paranoia. The narrative focus shifts largely to his headstrong 15-year-old sister, Gwen (Madeleine McGraw), whose psychic abilities have grown stronger.

​The horror reignites when Gwen begins receiving terrifying calls from the black phone in her dreams, accompanied by disturbing visions of three boys being stalked and murdered at a remote location known as Alpine Lake. Determined to end the torment for both herself and her brother, Gwen persuades a reluctant Finn to visit the isolated winter camp. Their investigation quickly uncovers two major threats: first, The Grabber (Ethan Hawke, returning as a supernatural entity), who has gained power in death and seeks vengeance on the siblings, and second, a shattering secret about their own mother’s death, which is revealed to be connected to The Grabber and the murders at Alpine Lake decades ago. The film is a masterful blend of psychological trauma, familial drama, and genuine supernatural nightmare fuel, as the siblings realize their fight against evil is not over—it has become inherited.
