​The story picks up shortly after the tragic events of the previous film. The Sully family is still reeling from their loss, but there is no time for mourning. A new threat emerges from the volcanic wastelands: the “Ash People.” Unlike the Omaticaya or the Metkayina, this tribe has been hardened by a brutal environment and holds a deep-seated resentment toward other clans and the Sky People alike. Their leader, Varang (Oona Chaplin), is a powerful and dangerous figure who believes that fire is the only way to cleanse Pandora of its invaders.
