The film is set in the rugged Australian outback in 1946. The story centers on a small, struggling diving company, run by Ernie Morgan (Arthur Angel) and his skilled employees, Clara Bennett (Hermione Corfield) and Jimmy Barriakada (Jacob Junior Nayinggul).
Their desperation for work leads them to accept a shady job from Dylan Maddock (Jake Ryan), a ruthless criminal, who hires them to retrieve a sunken car from a remote river. Unbeknownst to the divers, the car contains a massive haul of stolen gold bullion.

- The Threat Above: The divers quickly realize that the ruthless criminals have no intention of letting them leave the scene alive after the gold is recovered, turning the riverbank into a hostile, deadly standoff.
