Jungle Beat: The Movie (2020) Movie Review

​Based on the popular television series, the film was written and directed by Brent Dawes. The story begins one surprising morning when the animals of the colorful African jungle—including Munki the monkey, Trunk the elephant, Rocky the rhino, and Humph the hedgehog—wake up to a shocking discovery: they can speak!

​The source of their newfound ability is a crash-landed alien named Fneep, who has arrived from the planet Scaldron with a mission to conquer Earth for his ruthless, conqueror father. However, Fneep is far from a terrifying conqueror; he’s a homesick, timid misfit. The technology that gave the animals their voices is Fneep’s speech pod (a translation device), which the animals happily use.

​The jungle gang, far from being conquered, decide that the real mission is to help their new little friend get back to his crashed spaceship. As Munki, Trunk, and the rest of the gang help Fneep on his journey, he learns about fun, kindness, and that friendship is a far greater force than conquest. The animals must work quickly, though, to ensure Fneep gets his homing beacon working before his alien father arrives to launch a full-scale invasion of their peaceful planet.
