​The film centers on three college students, Stephen Grace (Jackson Rathbone), Cheryl Fromm (Hanne Steen), and the enigmatic Quaid (Shaun Evans), who embark on a philosophy/film project to study and document people’s greatest fears. They interview volunteers, filming them as they divulge their most profound and often traumatic experiences of fear.

​The project takes a sinister turn when Quaid, who is troubled by his own childhood trauma, becomes dissatisfied with merely documenting fear. Driven by a sadistic desire to “push things to the next level,” Quaid begins to use the recorded information to brutally and gruesomely force his subjects (including his fellow researchers, Stephen and Cheryl) to live out their greatest fears. What starts as a benign academic exercise descends into a terrifying, character-driven nightmare where lives are destroyed by the systematic and cruel exploitation of psychological vulnerability.
