The film centers on Meldie (Ayanna Misola), a seemingly sweet young woman who owns a local laundry shop. Beneath her innocent facade lies a twisted fixation: she has a dangerous fetish for her clients’ clothing, which she uses to fulfill her intense sexual fantasies. Meldie’s life takes a darker turn when she becomes obsessed with one of her handsome clients, Jacob (Gab Lagman), a police officer who is already in a relationship.
Meldie’s obsession drives her to extreme and manipulative lengths to get the man she desires, leading her down a path of surveillance, sabotage, and murder. The title Bula (Filipino for “bubble” or “foam/suds”) hints at the illusion of cleanliness Meldie provides while her inner life and actions are stained with darkness and violence. Co-starring veteran actor Mon Confiado as her disabled husband, this is a character-driven thriller that challenges morality and explores the frightening lengths one woman will go to for lust and love.
