Set in Lapland during the final desperate days of World War II (the Lapland War), the film introduces Aatami Korpi (Jorma Tommila), a solitary gold prospector who uncovers a massive gold deposit. His journey to take his hard-earned riches to the city is violently interrupted when he encounters a retreating Nazi platoon led by the ruthless SS Senior Storm Leader Bruno Helldorf (Aksel Hennie).

​When the Nazis steal his gold, they quickly realize they have tangled with no ordinary miner. Aatami Korpi is revealed to be a former legendary Finnish Army commando—a one-man death squad—who was so effective at killing Russians during the Winter War that he became known as “The Immortal.”

​What follows is a relentless, graphically violent, and thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across the desolate Finnish wilderness. Aatami, driven by his iron-willed sisu, utilizes every tool at his disposal to retrieve his gold and kill every last Nazi standing in his path. The film is a masterclass in minimalist dialogue and maximalist action, drawing comparisons to films like First Blood and Mad Max.
