​The film introduces us to two women, Ayu (Angela Morena) and Aki (Denise Esteban), both working as dancers in a Japanese bar. While they share the same workplace, their motivations are worlds apart. With her mother, a former dancer, having been deported back to the Philippines, Ayu’s search for her father is her only hope for legal validation and the elusive Japanese citizenship.

​In contrast, Aki is a firecracker who cares more about the “yen” than her roots. Her plans for a lavish life are derailed when she discovers she is pregnant. As she contemplates an abortion to protect her financial goals, she clashes with her boyfriend Taka (Vince Rillon), an illegal immigrant with a volatile temper. Meanwhile, Ayu finds quiet support in her own boyfriend Yuki (Ali Asistio). Their stories intersect in the neon-lit streets of Japan, highlighting the “Japino” experience—the struggle of being half-Japanese and half-Filipino, belonging fully to neither world while fighting for a piece of both.
